Privacy Policy for Crate
Crate respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile app.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: email, username, profile picture.
- User Content: crates, reviews, likes, and follows.
- Technical Data: device type, operating system, and basic analytics.
- Spotify Data: public album/artist metadata fetched from the Spotify API.
- Advertising Data (when ads are active): we use Google AdMob to display banner ads. AdMob may collect your advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android), coarse location derived from IP, device information, and ad interaction data. This data is processed by Google, not stored by Crate.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this data to provide app functionality (authentication, reviews, follows, discovery), personalize your experience, monitor app performance and fix bugs, and display advertising.
We do not sell or trade your personal data.
3. Data Sharing
We share limited information only with service providers (Supabase, Spotify API, Render) to deliver the app.
When ads are active, Google AdMob receives advertising identifiers and ad interaction data for ad delivery. Google's use of this data is governed by their privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Your Choices
You can limit ad tracking at any time. On iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off "Allow Apps to Request to Track". On Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
When ad tracking is limited, you will still see ads but they will not be personalized to you.
5. Data Retention
Your account data remains until you delete your account.
Reviews are permanent and not automatically deleted, so you can always revisit your history. Crates can be deleted.
Account Deletion: To delete your account, you can go to settings and reach account deletion.
6. Security
We use secure hosting, encrypted connections, and restricted access. No system is 100% secure.
7. Children's Privacy
Crate is not for children under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy and notify you in-app.
